Mt Kenya region known for its political significance, economic vibrancy, and cultural diversity, has long been the heart of Kenyans political landscape. The region is the home of Kenyan’s first, third, and fourth president who played a key role in shopping national politics. However, over the past months political tension in the region has emerged as both catalyst and a consequence for national instability.
The impact of political tension in the Mt Kenya, region is not only felt within my Kenya region but also countrywide. The political tension spills over other parts of the country creating national division, undermining country ability to work together. It has also brought about political apathy among citizens who feels disconnected from political process perceived to be dominant by political elites.
While the tension brought about instability, there are chances of reconciliation and healing. One of the main issue is to address the region political tension and economic imbalance. Also allowing the region residents to take part in decision making activities, like involving direct in any public participation for proper development.
Secondly politicians from this region, need to take part in a campaign that aims at uniting Kenyans rather than ethnical politics that creates gap among citizens. This will ensure that the tension in the region and Kenya in general is reduced.
Finally political reconciliation e.g. political dialogue amongst top leaders will ease the tension in the country hence economic and political growth.
