The Netball Association of Kenya President Ms Immaculate Wambui Kabutha addressing the game awareness forum at Dedan Kimathi University last week.

The government has been urged to consider promoting Netball like it does to other games practised in the country.

Currently, the Netball Association of Kenya says that all indications are that the game is not highly valued.

Some of the indicators, the association President Immaculate Wambui Kabutha says, are failure by those designing stadiums not to apportion any part for the netball pitch.

The association  president now wants the National Government through the Ministry of Sports and National Heritage to consider the game of netball in the ongoing construction of Stadiums and National Arenas.

Addressing a Netball awareness forum at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology near Nyeri town,  she disclosed that there is no single stadium under construction that has set aside a field for the game that has been considered feminine since time immemorial.

She said he organization had prepared a strategic plan that she hoped would rejuvenate the game across the country.

However, she noted that they might realize their dream without full support of the government.

She was however optimistic that the Kenya Kwanza administration as well as other private well-wishers will consider supporting their activities.

During the forum, Owillo Tony Omondi, a player and a student at the University, said that they hope the game will be considered and rated among men in the entire country.

At the same time, Sports Science lectures at the same university said that they hope the government will factor in the issue of construction of fields in the entire country.
