Self-medication, he said, can be particularly harmful for those with chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and asthma, potentially causing serious health complications.

She, however, expressed optimism that the outlawed practice will completely be done away with in the next two years as a result of spirited campaigns and sensitisation against the vice. “FGM cases have been declining over the years, we are confident that in the next two years it will have completely been done away with,” she said.

The newly opened Huduma Centre in Kamwangi in Gatundu is set to transform lives by making government services more accessible. They said they no longer have to travel for kilometres to access the services at the Huduma Centre in Thika town, thus saving time and travel costs of getting vital documents like birth certificates, HELB, and KRA services right at their doorstep. James Karanja shared, “This centre has saved us big time!” Just two weeks in operation, the Kamwangi centre is already alleviating pressure on the Thika office, which previously handled over 2,500 clients daily. Thika manager Susan Wangu noted, “The new centre has made a significant difference for residents from Gatundu.”
