Kenya is promoting ICT for monitoring fishing vessels, strengthening its policy framework, institutional capacity, and development of fishing ports to ensure the continued vitality of fisheries in global, continental, regional, and national economies.

Yesterday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua had a meeting with members of the African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations (ACCOSCA), and other stakeholders of the global Sacco movement at the Official Residence in Karen, Nairobi.
The DP noted that the Kenya Kwanza government was keen on empowering the Cooperative movement for more Kenyans to draw lasting benefits in investment, by among other things reviewing the Cooperative Societies Act to streamline the movement.
He furrher disclosed that the government will work with all stakeholders – locally and abroad to strengthen Saccos.
During the meeting, the DP was accompanied by among others Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Simon Chelugui and Principal Secretary State Department for Cooperatives Patrick Kilemi were present.
