Nyeri Civic Education On County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP)

Nyeri County residents were yesterday sensitized on the Nyeri County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) during a pre – conference held at Old Municipal Hall, Nyeri town.
The Pre – conference was meant to create awareness on the need for the members of the public to participate in the CIDP public participation which will be held tomorrow in all sub counties.
Several civil Societies under the umbrella of Nyeri County Budget Coalition and Kenya National Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KNCCI) joined hands in educating the public during the one-day forum.
“We felt there is a gap that the public is not aware of such upcoming forums which will come again after five years. Proposals will be collected and be presented during the public participation day. From there, we will now be tracking whether they have been captured in the system up to implementation level,” said the forum Convener Nelson Maina, a budget and planning tutor.
The residents tabled their expectations and needs which should be factored in the document by the County Government of Nyeri.
KNCCI Nyeri Chapter Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Martin Ndirangu noted that civic education is an important meeting for the public, bearing in mind that it happens once every five years.
“It’s an important document which should be taken seriously since the programmes captured will run for five years and people have to understand how the funds will be spent. We want to mainstream all aspects of development,” said the CEO.
The County Government of Nyeri under the stewardship of Mutahi Kahiga, through the Department of Finance & Economic Planning whivh is headee by Robert Thuo has organised public participation events in all the sub counties tomorrow.
The venue for these forums are; Mathira East – Karatina Town Hall, Mathira West – Kiriko PCEA Hall, Kieni East – Naromoru PCEA Hall, Kieni West – Mweiga CDF Hall, Othaya – Othaya CDF Hall, Nyeri Central – Culture Center Hall, Mukurwe-ini – Muhito PCEA Hall and Tetu – Wamagana Education Hall.
The CIDP will cover the years 2023 – 2027.
