Nyeri County Women Representative Rahab Mukami at the weekend was among scores of political leaders who graced various initiates graduation ceremonies held in various parts of Nyeri County.
Mukami who is defending her seat on UDA party ticket visited Bantu grounds at the foot of Mt Kenya where Kiama Kia Ma elders had organised initiation of 124 young men.
“Culture plays an essential role in the life of a person and society thus acts as a mirror to which the society reflects itself on,” she said as she addressed the initiates, parents, guardians and members of Kiama Kia Ma, Rware chapter.
During the ceremony, she handed over a one hundred seater tent to the elders which will greatly help them even in future events.
Others leaders who attended such ceremonies included Nyeri senatorial aspirant on UDA ticket Wahome Wamatinga and The New Democrats (TND) national chairman and Nyeri County gubernatorial aspirant Dr Thuo Mathenge.
Dr Mathenge called on Kikuyu community to preserve their culture and avoid being carried away by foreign behaviour, some of which he noted were detrimental to the development.
