OCCUPATIONAL FIRST AID COURSE FOR NYERI MUNICIPAL STAFF

Nyeri Municipal Board under the leadership has undertaken to train its members of the staff on occupational First Aid.

The training is being facilitated by St. John Ambulance.

The three -day training targets sanitation workers and traffic marshals who are in the frontline responding to emergencies and municipality cleanliness.

It is aimed at equipping the officers with skills and knowledge on handling emergencies first aid and disaster preparedness.

The staff will be trained on handling incident problems, hazardous material and fire disasters as well as ways of preserving life, preventing the condition from worsening and promoting recovery.

At the beginning of the training yesterday, the Municipal Manager Perister Kigwa thanked Governor Mutahi Kahiga for his continued support to the municipal board through prioritizing capacity building programmes for his staff. She cited that train will transform the officers to be more responsive to emergencies and embrace the importance of using Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs).

The facilitators of the training are Stephen Mayaka and Elizabeth Wanjira from St. John’s Ambulance.

The participants will be issued with certificates once they complete the course.
