Opinion polls should be conducive and credible away from influence

By: Abraham Ong’uti

In the situation of political temperatures and the few days remaining for the general elections, opinion polls have been conducted regularly criticized as part of a showcased irony of the political reality in the country.

Opinion polls being tallies done to estimate are not entitled to be skewed whatsoever for credibility. Hence they will be a platform for political chest thumbing, consequently will bring out a false perception which will end with a side favoured being uncomfortable with the results if proofed otherwise, since all this information is fed to the people with different views.

Of course it looks as a matter of political discomfort but it practically sensible when some independent bodies conducting the polls are seen and heard championing for a certain candidate. Unfortunately when most of the citizens are asked whether they ever interviewed on about the opinion polls they deny, yet others are sponsored to create that false perception that is crucial for Kenyans.

These polls are not conducive because they may create a false thought to people which can later be emotional as politics is concerned. It’s better than if it’s done diligently with a certified independent entity that is never tempered with.

Polls are a crucial aspect but how and credible they are, since they are not for political leaders but for Kenyans benefit.

All bodies concerned with polls should pull up their socks for their future to be bright and admirable, putting in mind that what citizens consume from them can have either a positive or a negative impact.
