Many people think that publishing a book opens a door, it is not true, a book is like any other product, if you do not act like a real hawker, try each person who cross your path just forgets it.
Some bookstores can get your books for 40% or 60% contracts depending on their regulations but it’s not easy to find buyers meaning the little you get you share with the bookstore.
In a social set up which reading is not popular what must you do, be like a ’Zungeira!’ hawker, carry a pile of your books everywhere you go and pitch to everyone about your book.
Some will buy, some will decline do not feel disappointed with those who cannot buy because it’s a matter of someone will buy, just be positive do not worry about others or what anyone will say, simply focus on your sales.
On a lucky day a company or ministry of education can buy your book, or you might get a better contract with someone to do campaigns on something but books generally in Africa are like a hobby to many, do not give up.
