In a significant step towards fostering peace and stability in South Sudan, on Thursday May 16th in an hotel Nairobi ,various opposition groups gathered in to sign the Declaration of Commitment to the Tumaini (Hope) Initiative. The initiative, aimed at accelerating the peace process in the war-torn nation, saw key political players come together to reaffirm their dedication to resolving longstanding conflict.
Led by Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Lazarus Sumbeiywo, Chief Mediator of the ongoing High-Level Mediation process for South Sudan, the signing ceremony marked a pivotal moment in the efforts to achieve lasting peace and reconciliation. Representatives from different opposition factions, including political leaders, community elders, and civil society advocates, were present at the event.
Addressing the gathering on behalf of H.E. President William Ruto Gen. Sumbeiywo emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among all stakeholders involved in the peace process.
