A new entrant is usually worse off compared to the established firms. If they fear the unfavourable competition they could fail to enter in to the market. The decision to take risk is what helps them to start operations, learn from mistakes, take advantages of weaknesses of the existing market operations and become giants like the existing famous firms.
Overconcentration on what the competitor is doing will make you to lose focus on how unique your products could be and how appealing they are in the market as customers like suppliers who are aware of their tastes.
Riding similar to swimming and driving are subjects that are better when taken practically rather than theoretically however there are risks for first timers unless you take bold step ignoring possible challenges you would not hone your skills in these fields.
Do not over think what needs practical steps to hone the skill go ahead and practice otherwise your world will remain an imaginary one full of wishes after all practice, practice makes perfect.
