President Mwai Kibaki’s in-laws have described the former Head of State as a respectable and courageous man who always kept his word.
The in-laws said the the late President was the best son-in-law they have ever had.
Led by Eng. Kariuki Wa Muchemi, the Njure clan said the former President took the best ever care of their daughter, former First Lady Lucy Kibaki.
Speaking from Mukurwe-ini, Eng. Muchemi said his clan had no issues with the former Othaya Member of Parliament who married their daughter in the early 1960s.
“As the Njure family, the former President was the beat son-in-law we ever had. He was respectable and courageous man who at all times kept his word. He took very good care of our daughter despite his endless commitment in the public service,” Eng. Muchemi observed.
He noted that they have always been proud to be associated with the deceased who he added kept in touch with them after the demise of his wife.
Eng. Muchemi who is the ruling party, Jubilee aspirant for the Mukurwe-ini parliamentary seat said he had learnt a lot from the late President, experience he said he hoped to utilise once he joins the August House after the August 9th General Election.
“I have personally learnt a lot from him. I hope to fully utilise political experience to assist the Mukurwe-ini people once they elect me as their next member of parliament, ” he said from his home where he had a press briefing.
He said he hoped to improve the food production in the area by among other things ensuring there was Water for irrigation and farmers used the best farm practices.
Further, he said, he will make sure cottage industries were established so that raw materials such as special soil used to make ceramics and which is today exported from the area in its raw form.
Eng. Muchemi will be battling it with among others Speaker of the Nyeri County Assembly John Kaguchia who will be the UDA flag bearer and the incumbent Anthony Kiai who will be defending his seat on The Service Party (TPS).
