Presidential Advisor On Women’s Rights To Host Widows Valentine Day Event

President William Ruto’s advisor on Women’s Rights is scheduled to preside over Widows Valentine Day ceremony in Nairobi.
Ms Harriette Chiggai will host the event at Safari Park hotel where key stakeholders are expected to attend.
A communication from her office noted that the event is dedicated to celebrating and empowering widows in the country.
“The celebration serve as a platform for key stakeholders including CEOs, Policymakers, Development partners and Civil society leaders to collaborate in advancing Office of Women’s Rights Advisor’s (OWRA) mission by integrating gender equality and widows empowerment into their policies and initiative,” the communication stated in part.
The Widows’ Valentine’s Day Event, organized by the OWRA in collaboration with Come Together Widows and Orphans Organization (CTWOO) aims to celebrate and empower widows, widowers, and orphans by addressing key challenges such as financial inclusion, access to education, and emotional well-being. Through advocacy, fundraising, and community engagement, the event will raise awareness and mobilize resources for an education fund supporting orphans and vulnerable children.
Some of the key highlights for today’s ceremony include, Keynote speeches by distinguished guests led by Chief Guest, Ms Chiggai which will dwell on advocacy and empowerment.
Other highlights are Advocacy forum featuring personal testimonials and expert discussions, Celebratory dinner with music, dance, and poetry performances, Fundraising segment to support an education kitty for orphans.
and Networking opportunities for policymakers, corporate leaders, donors, and community stakeholders.
The event underscores the importance of inclusivity and collective action in addressing the needs of widows and orphans while fostering support networks and sustainable solutions.
