Mental illness also called mental health disorders refers to a wide range of mental health conditions or disorders that affect your mood, thinking and behavior. Example of mental illness includes depression, stress, anxiety disorder and eating disorders. Many people have mental health concerns from time to time. A mental health concern becomes a mental illness when ongoing signs and symptoms cause frequent stress and affect your ability to function.
A mental illness can make you miserable and can cause problems in your daily life, such as confusion at school, work or in relationships. Symptoms of mental illness can be managed by medication and talk therapy. Signs and symptoms of mental health vary depending on the circumstances. Their symptoms can affect your emotions, thoughts and behaviors. Major examples of mental illness include; withdrawal from friends and activities, suicidal thinking , feeling sad or down, reduced ability to concentrate and excessive worries or extreme feeling of guilt.
Sometimes, symptoms of mental health disorder appear in physical form such as headache and other unexplained pains. If you have any sign of mental illness, share with your closest friend or visit a nearby mental health professional. Most mental illness may not be treated on their own and if ignored it may lead to serious problems and so it needs to be treated earlier before it becomes a crisis. Prevention is better than cure!
