Over the last 52 years, more than a billion people come out to celebrate International Earth Day as a gesture of their support for environmental protection. This is an annual event which was first celebrated on April 22nd, 1970. This yearโs theme is, Invest In Our Planet.
What we do today will define our tomorrow. Investing in our planet today simply means securing a better place for our children and future generations.
Let’s devote ourselves in saving the environment by doing the simplest things around us like; picking the litter around us. It won’t hurt to pick up that empty yoghurt can and putting it in the trash bag.
Make sure you plant at least one tree on this day. Remember trees provide shelter and food for many animals and don’t forget the amazing shades to .
It’s not all the time we need electricity. Put off the lights whenever you are not using them. Conserving electrical energy in our homes and work places will be an advantage to our environment. Limit your water usage. Turn off the taps whenever you are not using the water. Adapt the technique of tapping rainwater for water for homes and farm usage.
Earth is the only home we have, we don’t have another. Let’s channel all the energy, time and resources we have to invest in our planet.
