Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, some of his senior officers and St John Ambulance officials in Nyeri yesterday

St. John Ambulance is setting up a facility in Nyeri town which will aid the County Government of Nyeri in fire-fighting and rescue services.
This will be done by availing a standard ambulance with trained medical personnel to accompany our disaster management teams while attending to disaster or fire rescue mission.
It is envisaged that the ambulance will be stationed at Nyeri fire station.
The facility will be used for trainings on first aid and disaster preparedness. They will train the bodaboda operators as they are the first responders as well as conduct community sensitization.
This is part of the MoUΒ between the County Government of Nyeri and St John Ambulance, through the Department of Gender, Youth and Social Services that was signed in June last year.
During a courtesy call to Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, the team led by St. John Ambulance CEO Harun Gikera and Chairman Central Region Wilson Mbau, the CEO disclosed that the facility will be ready by June this year.
This collaboration between the two parties will in help in disaster management, including emergency services, especially rescue for persons in distress. This partnership is aimed at taking emergency services a notch higher to international standards as part of social development.
Kahiga lauded the initiative saying it will enhance service delivery for Nyerians.
The CEO said the meeting will help strengthen and create new opportunities of working together.
Others present were Gender CEC Esther Ndung’u, Chief Officer Eng. Mwangi Kamanja among others.
