The cultural exchange between China and the rest of the world has received a new boost through the return of “Hello Chinese”, an educational television program that seeks to introduce global audiences to the depth and beauty of Chinese culture and language.
Co-produced by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation under China’s Ministry of Education and StarTimes, the program has been hailed as a “global gateway to Chinese culture.” It breaks geographical and linguistic barriers, offering viewers from different cultural backgrounds an engaging way to learn about China’s traditions, arts, and modern life.
This season, “Hello Chinese” aims to make learning Mandarin both accessible and enjoyable.
Its “Chinese Reading and Writing” segment provides customized learning paths for students at different proficiency levels, starting from pronunciation and character strokes to forming full sentences.
This practical and progressive method has inspired many language enthusiasts to embrace Chinese as a second language.
“The show doesn’t just teach the language; it invites viewers to experience the beauty and logic behind Chinese characters and expressions,” said a representative from the Center for Language Education and Cooperation.
To cater to a wide audience, “Hello Chinese” Season 2 is being broadcast across multiple StarTimes channels, including ST Sino Drama, which premieres new episodes every Wednesday and Sunday at 16:50 GMT with repeat airings the following day, and ST Guide E, which airs on Mondays and Fridays at 17:00 GMT with additional replays the next day.
Through “Hello Chinese”, StarTimes continues to play a pivotal role in promoting global cultural understanding.
The show stands as a living bridge between China and the world, inviting viewers everywhere to explore, learn, and fall in love with the richness of Chinese heritage.
