SURVIVING IN UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES

By: SALOME MBUVI

It is with clear evidence that students encounter hardships in schools. These includes; unable to feed themselves, unable to pay rents and also inability to purchase for their clothes. This is due to lack of finance or financial constraints. It is led by many students who come from poor background who also suffers the same. This makes the young people to suffer a lot and become hopeless in this world. Many of them gives up in life and some commits suicide, others drops out of school while others introduces themselves in abusing drugs.

Landlords may not empathize with the students due to delayed payment of rents and might choose to throw away the student. They become embarrassed and even suffer psychologically due to shame and sufferings they are going through. Also the mode of dressing also affects the student. This is because, he/she sees other students dressing smartly and looking nice while he/she is looking shabby.

Students should learn to appreciate and get satisfied on what they have or what they are able to afford. They should not give up because they have long journey to go and they have parents, siblings and other people who will depend on them one day. Students should also learn to share out their problems either to their friends or parents because a problem shared is a problem half solved. Landlords also should be merciful and not throwing away students due to inability to pay the rents. Students who are financially stable should help their friends instead of looking down upon them when they are living miserable lives.
