Various stakeholders in Laikipia County have established a steering committee that will oversee receipt and distributing food to the hunger-stricken areas in the area.
Yesterday, the stakeholders held a consultative meeting with the county government officials led by Governor Joshua Irungu.
The team included representatives from the National Government led by County Commissioner Joseph Kanyiri.
The aim is to ensure both levels of government come together for a common purpose of helping the neediest in the county and at the same time avoid duplication of roles.
Around 183,000 people in the county have been affected by the drought after receiving minimum rains this year.
School going children in more than 38 schools across the county have also been affected by the persistent rainfall fail that has seen an estimated 100,000 livestock dying.
