Collaboration poem from Zimbabwean Poets-

Β
Bury these ramnants of our fate my son,
And write the tales of our broken legacy,
On the face of these graphite epitaphs.
Write them with the ink of our sorrowful Black blood,
And wash not this curse of our melanin.
Draw not the parallels between the us And them,
But keep our light alive,
Deep in the heart of these dying flames!
Our incinerated shadows continue
To sink in this deep quag of disgrace,
The little green grass sagging torwads The red earth,
The dying flames gallop in this nervy, Thunderstorm,
And grow young in this perfusion of a Cold dew,
Eclipsed by these our green tears
With these tombstones becoming heavy Mounds,
The ants persist in digging their nests,
But keep our light alive
Deep in the heart of these dying flames!
