Understanding of possible outcomes helps you to make informed decisions

Decisions

Worth Noting:

  • In a country like Kenya one of the issues that have been cited as major cause of accidents is over speeding. Analysts have come to this conclusion after collating their data after which they have advised motorists to ensure that they are in following the recommended speed limits.
  • There are those who take heed but others argue that they have been speeding for years yet they have not encountered a major accident. Their rebellious actions are picked up by some inexperienced motorists who look upon them and end up committing accidents. Much as some may be able to remain safe in such high speeds there are others who are unable to do so yet they want to compare themselves with the expert motorists.

Those who can truly be accounted brave are those who best know the meaning of what is sweet in life and what is terrible, and then go out, undeterred, to meet what is to come…..……… Pericles.

In my community there is a proverb that says an old man sitting down can see far than a boy who has climbed on top of a tree. This means that the experience in the man can help him predict many possible outcomes of different situations with a high degree of accuracy than the boy with all his knowledge even at a point seen as of privilege.

A look at the decisions made by both the old man and the boy on what to do, where and when then evaluate the outcomes you would realise that the two are not at par as far as understanding and decision making is concerned.

Many parents are blamed by their kids for being strict to them on some issues like going out at night, what to wear, which movies to watch, which tasks to carry out and who to befriend. The kids compare themselves with what they hear fellow kids say that they are allowed to enjoy but their parents have a clear picture in mind of which character they want to mold in their kids.

Their parents have good examples of other people who have been subjected to such conditions and the outcome gotten while the kids are just relying on limited knowledge of what they purport to be their rights. Do not rush at condemning such parents unless you listen from their perspective and establish the reasons behind their behaviour.

Teachers through experience and learning can easily predict what subjects or hobbies would best fit their students but many are times when the learners would feel that the teacher is unnecessary interfering with their lives. Some of the learners think that they should be allowed to independently make certain decisions like on which career route to follow instead of listening to the teachers, parents, role models then comparing all this with their personal preferences then wisely deciding on which path to follow.

It is shocking to learn that some students just follow hearsay or peer pressure in making important decisions like which subject to study whenever there are electives or which professional course to study only for them latter on to keep regretting yet teachers, parents, career guiders were available during the time of selection only that they failed to take heed of their advice.

In a country like Kenya one of the issues that have been cited as major cause of accidents is over speeding. Analysts have come to this conclusion after collating their data after which they have advised motorists to ensure that they are in following the recommended speed limits.

There are those who take heed but others argue that they have been speeding for years yet they have not encountered a major accident.  Their rebellious actions are picked up by some inexperienced motorists who look upon them and end up committing accidents. Much as some may be able to remain safe in such high speeds there are others who are unable to do so yet they want to compare themselves with the expert motorists.

A father who holds a powerful position in government or a blue chip company but misbehaves only to be safe as his status at work is offered additional support in terms of security guards, transport and residence so those he offends are not able to access him easily. If his children happen to follow his bad example they are likely to be easily punished as they do not enjoy privileges similar to that of their parent. Whenever such people leave offices they feel unsafe interacting with public as the latter has a negative opinion about them.

Unless you have a good reason to reject a certain piece of advice do not just do it due to your feelings about person offering it. Learn to be objective and logical. Take every experience as a moment to learn new and better thing rather than just practicing ignorance.
