Filippo Grandi
By MKT Reporter
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, launched a refugee resource centre at the University of Nairobi.
The centre aims to establish a policy regime for sustainable social and economic inclusion for refugees and provide localised research on challenges and solutions for forced displacement.
Grandi emphasised that many countries have faced forced displacement due to political turmoil and that the world is unable to stop or prevent wars and conflicts.
He emphasised the dangers faced by refugees and internally displaced persons, such as violence, extortion, torture, and even death.
Grandi emphasises the need for corporate actions to address the root causes of conflicts and protect forcefully displaced people, saying peace is a possible solution to reduce displacement and refugees and that the return of refugees must always be voluntary.
