Food insecurity is a threat to the nation that results to malnutrition to the people. Ensuring food security require efforts from both end ,from the people , government and private sectors implementing effective policies and programs that facilitate sustainable agricultural practices. This collaboration can build food security that serve the present and the future.
Climate change is the main problem affecting food in security in the country. Extreme weather conditions like drought and floods affect agricultural activities leading to low yield. This can be improved by implementing climate and planting drought resistant crops. Another factor is poverty that leads to food insecurity due to low income .Marginalised community and rural farmers lack resources to access nutritious food. This can be improved by distributing income generation initiatives to the low income farmers to improve security.
Agricultural diversification can also improve food security as this involve planting different crops in piece of land, this helps to reduce the number of crops that the farmer relief on. Encouraging the growth of variety of crops will helps to ensure food supply and improve diversity of crops resulting to increase food supply hence ensure food security in the country?
Using organic farming increase food security as this reduces environmental pollution. Organic farming is beneficial in that it reduces the risk of environmental pollution and this can improve security by allowing crops to grow healthy without any harm or harsh surrounding. Irrigation in these areas will also increase crop growth by ensuring adequate supply of water to the crops.
Utilization of resources by maximizing the use of food and avoiding waste can also improve food security in the region. Preservation methods should be applied to avoid waste of excess food. Using enough or ordering enough food can be of good help also as this reduces the leftovers thus increasing food security.
Improving agricultural production by using modern techniques can also improve food security .This can be done by providing high yield crops or certified seeds to farmers , providing them with fertilizers Will also improve crop growth resulting to high yield. Machine harvesting will also Easy the work of the farmers and ensure that crops are harvested in time without the delay or being affected in the field due to human labour and this increases food security to the country.
Report from World Health Organization show that fifty percent of the population die of hunger, others malnourish resulting to poor health especially in children. Improving food security to the most affected parts will be beneficial as this will help increase the living standards to the people thus promoting good health to children and to the people as whole. This can only be done by making efforts from the people and the government.
