Kenya, Tanzania brace for Cyclone Hidaya as flood death toll rises
By Emily Opiyo
Over the years floods have been a threat to the people of Kenya and all over the world, for instance those of Rift valley and Northern part of Kenya. Floods have a devastating effect on almost all socio economic activities and it causes enormous damages to loss of lives and properties.
Floods are caused by heavy rainfall and overflow of riverbanks. Early this year there has been constant rainfall which has caused a lot of harm to the people of Kenya leading to destruction of properties and loss of lives.
Many are experiencing floods from different parts of the Kenyan. The most shocking and surprising that people of Nairobi are the once experiencing floods more something that rarely happened and it has led loss of many lives and displacement of people.
The government is encouraging the people affected to vacate and move to high places.
Floods have affected the re-opening of term two and the students are yet to know when they will resume learning because the rain is still there. Should the schools remain closed or they just resume and what of the affected school like Ahero Girls in Kisumu, what will they do if the government decided to reopen the schools soon.
Government should look for another alternative to control the floods. The flood controlling measures seems not bear a fruit. Should the government hold a prayer session to see if that could help maybe the country needs cleansing and a prayer for the lord to help us Kenyans. Government to look for a better way of controlling the floods and Schools to resume soon.
