Noting:

  • As a ruler not all times when communicating with your people that they will be praising you at times they will be advising you other times they will be condemning you, an intelligent leader would be happy to receive feedback from his people if contented with your stewardship continue in the same pace making everyone happy.
  • When being advised by those under you try to examine the merits and demerits of their input much as they are lower in rank than you, this does not deny them a chance to think and make their opinion known. Weigh their opinion if helpful no matter the rank, age or gender of the contributor be ready to implement it for the general good of all involved.

A state which dwarfs its men, in order that they may be more docile instruments in its hands even for beneficial purposes will find that with small men no great thing can really be accomplished.……….. John Stuart Mill, On Liberty.

Human beings are social beings. They enjoy being in charge of every situation. Not all situations are easy to handle. Those in leadership positions rarely wish to show their weaknesses through testifying their inability to take charge. There is a pride in being in control of what is around you. The case also happens among animals where you find a male lion being in charge of a territory where just a single male commands it after chasing all the other male lions away.

Those who are farmers or have seen poultry being reared will bear me witness that a single cock would be in charge of many hens after chasing other cocks away. There is a pride being the commander of a territory. However, proper use of that authority is important as it can help you feel safe or afraid while dealing with other people.

A ruler who is friendly to those he is in-charge over is usually a happy ruler as he feels the sense of belonging in midst of other people, does not worry how his life will be in case he quit his position.

One plane that helps the world to grow at a fast rate is the competitive plane reason being every participant wishes to outdo the other thereby bringing improvement from time to time.

As a ruler not all times when communicating with your people that they will be praising you at times they will be advising you other times they will be condemning you, an intelligent leader would be happy to receive feedback from his people if contented with your stewardship continue in the same pace making everyone happy.

In times of condemnation evaluate to identify whether it is worth for them to do so. When the case is genuine meaning that your administration has done something that does not resonate well with people, be happy that you have noticed. Put in place necessary remedial measures.   Much as you lead others, it is important to ask yourself whether the policies you use on them would be suitable if applied to you if yes feel no guilt for having implemented them but if unfavourable try to revise them to make them better.

The mental ability of any human being is not determined by his body size, skin colour, age or his rank in the society. Aware of this as a ruler you need to evaluate every input you receive from those under you on its own merit.

Through the use of vast range of knowledge leadership skills improve as you are able to deal correctly with all the diverse people whom you interact with from day to day. To those you interact with they will feel the sense of belonging and increase their urge to contribute for the general welfare of everyone.

Like a mega structure whose building materials are simple bricks so is a nation therefore the ruler should be aware that in absence of those he is ruling he cannot be referred to as a leader. Aware of this the ruler should respect those he rules for making him their leader.
