Former Deputy Director of Inua Jamii Programme Nicholas Mac’Botongore has asked the electorate to take electoral matters seriously if they intend to participate in the forth coming general election.
Mr Mac’Botongore who is eyeing the Nyaribari Masaba parliamentary seat made the observation in Gesusu Ward while addressing various groups.
“There are many critical stages towards election 2022 that we need to create awareness on amongst our people before the electioneering period” he said.
According to Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) voter registration and transferring is ongoing till 28th Feb; party transfers are on till 26th March; and Party primaries will take place between 16th-22nd April and only party members will participate in this nomination.

He cited that elections proper will begin after nominations depending on how quickly the nominations’ disputes will be resolved.
“If there will be no dispute in your party, then you can engage in coded campaigns as you wait for official campaign period to kick off on 30th May 2022,”he said.
He advised the leaders to sensitize voters on the dates and events for informed decision making.
However, encouraged the public to vote wisely in the upcoming elections and stressed the importance of choosing leaders who are “in love with justice” and humanity.
“It is through voting that we can bring change and development in the country,”he said.
Mr Mac Botongore urged youths to shun from participating in violence during the electioneering period but to instead embrace peace and unity as they focus on development activities.
He cautioned politicians to stop dividing Kenyans on political lines reminding that time for active politics has not come but rather to focus on service delivery.
He advised Kenyans to shun some leaders with ill motive to divide them cited that public needs leaders who can unite the Country for posterity.
Mac’Botongore observed that political parties fulfil a vital intermediate role between citizens and the state, in which they are supposed to represent citizens’ interests and translate these into a policy agenda that responds to citizens’ concerns.
