Mukhammadiyeva Sevinch
Mukhammadiyeva Sevinch
Faynberg’s poem translated
From the depths of ages, hope does gleam,
In the heart, a wound, a painful seam.
Somewhere exists a shore of bliss,
Where eternal love and comfort kiss.
I asked the sailors of this land:
“Don’t seek, let the heart withstand.
All seas and oceans we’ve explored,
But this shore is not in this world.”
“If not on the earth, if not in the sky,
Maybe hidden among the stars up high?”
Someone consoled me from the heart,
“Cease your pleas, don’t weep, sweetheart.
Beyond the clouds, so far, so steep,
Stars like embers their vigil keep.
Planets abound in the cosmic consist,
But such a shore, it does not exist.”
Fortunately, in my hands, my fate resides,
I’ll fulfill the wish my heart decides.
“Hello, is this the ‘Shore of Bliss’ café?
A table for two, please, right away.”
