In a bid to proactively address the pressing challenges faced by Kenya’s youth, ActionAid International Kenya orchestrated a groundbreaking Pre YouLead-Summit today. The event served as a platform, uniting national policymakers and impassioned youth leaders in a joint effort to architect indigenous, solution-driven strategies to combat the multifaceted issues hindering youth development in the country.
The summit’s agenda was carefully curated, focusing on critical areas demanding immediate attention:
Education System Overhaul: The gathering scrutinized the efficacy of the existing educational system in meeting the dynamic skill requirements of an ever-evolving labor market. Discussions delved deep into how to revamp the curriculum to align it more closely with the demands of emerging industries and technologies.
Economic Empowerment and Decent Work: At the heart of the discourse was the challenge of limited access to economic opportunities and the pressing need for dignified work for Kenya’s burgeoning youth population. Strategies to stimulate job creation, entrepreneurship, and vocational training were passionately discussed.
Youth Inclusion in Decision-Making: The summit addressed the stark underrepresentation of young voices in critical decision-making spheres within Kenya. Participants brainstormed ways to actively involve youth in policy formulation and governance processes.
