The Director of Sharp Education Centre Dr. Paul Wanjohi has taken a moment to share with us the real threat that exposure to ICT poses to our children.
Dr. Wanjohi also doubles up as the Treasurer of APBET schools.
Dr. Wanjohiβs major concerns are based on the fact that most children are faced with uncensored content which is readily available either on the mobile phone or television.
βItβs a real issue we must face and we cannot bury our heads in the sand and assume that all is well. As parents we have a big role to play in ensuring that we deny our children access to the uncensored sites, some of which contain inappropriate content for the children such as pornographic material,β Dr wanjohi advised.
Dr. Wanjohi advised parents to make use of the child protection feature which disables the sites which might contain unpalatable material.
This he said in the wake of shocking revelations that some of the unsocial habits such as gayism and lesbianism start through access to such uncensored material.
Dr. Wanjohi urged parents and guardians to always be keen and on the look out of the children whenever they are using electronic gadgets
