The Kenyan constitution 2010 provides one with freedom and right on their dignity and the privacy to each citizen in chapter 4 of the constitution. The same document highlights the freedom and protection of human rights by the Labour relations.
This provisions by law have been violated by our political class who have turned day in day out to intimidate The Kenyan police service to be people who are not well learned and should be well trained professionally in academics. These political giants fails to understand that the law under article 243 of the police service act displays the qualifications for one to make it to the police service unite these includes also the academic papers that qualifies one to the Brafit for further training.
This article provides a qualifications and merit for one to be in the service. It vividly critic the occasion of continuous arguments on the quest of competency of the police.
This has not only been to men in uniform on the ground but also to those in the highest office in the police service including the Cabinet Secretary and the inspector General for their alleged engagements in the miss use of their office to use excess force to intimidate the political class which they are nonaffiliated to.
However of the office holders have stated that they are within the law and so they claim exercise law. Section 245 of the constitution states “The national Police Service Inspector General shall exercise independent command over the national police service and perform any function by national legislation as presented by the Parliament.
Even as the police is object and functions of the police service is to promote peace and law enforcement, the police are mandated to be a discipline arm that serves the citizens based constitutional standards on human rights in the Kenyan territory ;the National police service and the administration police has this mandate in accordance to article 243(a) and (b) of the constitution. This organization in the police service clearly states the competency of this unit.
