Nyeri gubernatorial aspirant Eng. Wangai Ndirangu has unveiled an ambitious development blueprint aimed at accelerating economic growth, improving public services, and creating opportunities for residents across Nyeri County.
Speaking in different public engagement forums across the county, Ndirangu outlined a people-centered agenda focused on infrastructure development, healthcare improvement, agricultural transformation, youth empowerment, and accountable leadership. He said his vision is anchored on unlocking Nyeri’s economic potential while ensuring that development reaches every part of the county.
A key pillar of his agenda is infrastructure. Ndirangu noted that improved road networks, modern markets, and upgraded public facilities would stimulate trade, attract investment, and enhance access to essential services. He emphasized that reliable infrastructure is critical to connecting farmers, businesses, and communities to economic opportunities.
On healthcare, the aspiring governor pledged to strengthen medical services by improving health facilities, increasing access to quality care, and ensuring affordable treatment for residents. He said a healthy population is essential for sustainable development and promised to prioritize investments that improve healthcare delivery across the county.
Agriculture, which remains the backbone of Nyeri’s economy, features prominently in Ndirangu’s development plan. He pledged to work closely with farmers to boost productivity through modern farming technologies, better extension services, and improved market access. He also underscored the need to support value addition and agribusiness initiatives that can increase farmers’ earnings and create employment opportunities.
Youth empowerment is another major focus of his vision. Ndirangu said his administration would invest in skills development, entrepreneurship programs, and job creation initiatives to help young people become active contributors to the county’s economic growth. He observed that many youths possess talent and potential but require supportive policies and opportunities to thrive.
Beyond sectoral development, Ndirangu has consistently emphasized transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public resources. He argues that effective leadership and responsible use of county funds are essential for delivering meaningful and lasting development. According to him, public participation and citizen engagement will play a central role in ensuring that county projects address the real needs of residents.
Political observers note that Ndirangu’s message resonates with growing calls for transformative leadership and sustainable development in Nyeri. His focus on economic empowerment, service delivery, and inclusive growth seeks to position the county as a regional leader in agriculture, business, and innovation.
As the race for Nyeri’s top seat gains momentum, Ndirangu is urging residents to support leaders committed to integrity, development, and shared prosperity.
He maintains that with strategic planning, sound governance, and collaboration between government and citizens, Nyeri can achieve greater economic progress and improve the quality of life for all its residents.
He will be battling it with among others; Senator Wahome Wamatinga, former Othaya MP Gichuki Mugambi, KALRO chairman Dr Thuo Mathenge, businessman Kinyua Wanjohi alias Usikamake and Amb. Peter Munyiri among others.
