Four accused persons have been sentenced to fifteen years in prison for allegedly attempting to murder Daniel Ombasa Omosa, as per Section 220(a) of the Penal Code.
The trial took place at Ogembo Law Courts before magistrate Paul Biwott .
The accused persons in question were Ronald Morarara Nyakweba, Lilian Mogutu Enock, Halison Chacha Machuka, and Boaz Emannuel Shamara.
On March 4, 2022, at Bigege village, Nyabera location, Gucha sub-county, Kisii County, they, along with others not before the court, allegedly attempted to murder Daniel Ombasa Omosa.
During the incident, Halison Machuka, one of the accused persons, stabbed the complainant, Daniel Ombasa Omosa, and then fled the scene, left the complainant screaming and fighting for his life.
Fortunately, a villager came to Omosa’s rescue.
Machuka and Emmanuel were later hiding and subsequently arrested.
The prosecutor argued that Lilian had hired the accused persons to kill Omosa, hosting them for this purpose.
Their plan involved using a knife, but it ultimately failed.
The magistrate found the accused persons guilty for attempted murder contrary to Section 220(a) of the Penal Code and convicted them.
They were subsequently sentenced to fifteen years in prison.
The accused persons have the option to appeal for this decision within fourteen days
