Governor Kahiga Attends Interactive Forum With Newly Recruited Officers

Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga yesterday met the newly recruited officers who recently joined the County Government.
The officers have already been undertaken through induction whereby they were trained on public service; the devolved structure, rules and regulations, County Government Public Ethics Act and national values and principles, performance management, drug and substance abuse, disability mainstreaming, HIV and non-communicable diseases, payroll management and welfare issues.
“You joined the County Government of Nyeri which is a tight ship that is run with diligence and its stellar performance this far is evidenced through the streak of wins under its belt. In the last ranking done by the World Bank in the Kenya Devolution Support Program (KDSP), Nyeri was ranked at position one,” the governor told them.
Already, the government has a performance management system that is designed to ensure efficient and effective service delivery, they were informed.
It provides a clear link to the responsibilities of each employee and ensures that policy decisions are cascaded from the top management to the lowest cadre.
The performance management process ensures every person in the government has a clear responsibility and thus their performance can easily be measured.
This is to provide the staff with a clear road map that will guide them in the execution of their duties.

We value collaboration and encourage you to share your ideas, insights, and perspectives with your colleagues. We believe that diversity of thought and experience is essential to driving progress and achieving our goals,” he noted.
Governor Kahiga also urged the staff to work hard having been fully made aware of the process and procedures in the public service and making a commitment to adhere to the values, principles, and ethics of the public service.
Nyeri County Secretary Ben Gachichio, Chief of Staff Paul Wambugu, CECs Peter Macharia (County Public Service), Ndirangu Gachunia (Lands), Hanif Hussein (Transport), Esther Ndung’u (Gender), Diana Kendi (Trade), Dr. Joseph Kiragu (Health), Chief Officers Joseph Kanyi (County Public Service), Violet Koigi (Environment), George Mwangi (Trade), Julius Ringera (Transport), County Public Service Board Chairman Paul Kimondo among others were also in attendance.
