Nyandarua County Governor Francis Kimemia yesterday officially opened a maternity Unit at Kanjuiri Ward, Ol Kalou sub-county.
The modern wing is equipped with state of the art medical equipment.
An estimated 100 patients will be served at the facility each day with Governor Kimemia pledging to employ more staff to man the facility and meet the diverse needs of Kanjuiri Ridge people.
The county boss later commissioned the newly upgraded maternity unit at Tumaini Health Centre still in Kanjuiri Ridge Ward.
Thereafter, the governor commissioned Pasenga Dispensary in Rurii Ward, Ol Kalou sub-county.
The dispensary is expected to serve an extensive population around Pasenga area.
During the tour, the governor issued empowerment equipment to youth groups.
Among the items distributed included tents, blankets, water tanks, car wash machines, public address systems and boda boda umbrellas.
