Leaders in Kisii and Nyamira Counties have condemned the alleged raid of police officers and want to arrest of former CS Fred Matiang’i at his home in Nairobi last night.
Speaking in Nyamira, Nyamira Members of the country Assembly (MCAs)said Dr. Fred Matiang’i is a national leader who diligently delivered on his assignment in government prevailing circumstances notwithstanding.

“As omogusii, despite various ups and downs we are very proud of our son and hold him in extreme regard for the role he played in rallying the community behind the government he so selflessly and passionately served,” he said.
He cited that Matiangi he is credited with numerous institutional and infrastructural developments across the nation.

The leaders have called on investigative agencies to investigate the raid and request the government to offer enhanced security to Dr. Matiang’i .
The leaders condemned some sections of leaders who are happy at the heinous attempt of Dr Matiangi ‘s life.
Kisii Members of the county Assembly led by the assembly Majority whip and also Bomorenda ward MCA John Ombati said the police boss who has since denied the raiding Matiang’i’s home should tell Kenyans who the suspect are and why aren’t they arrested.
Ombati said Matiang’i is the Kisii kingpin and attacking him is like attacking the whole community and they won’t allow the witch hunt under their watch.
“We are joining the rest of Kenyans in condemning the unwarranted arrest of our leader,”Said Ombati.
Peter Otachi Monyerero ward MCA condemn the raid and said they want to know why his security is taken as a joke.
Azimio la Umoja leaders in a presser in Kisii town said intimidation and arrest of Matiang’i should not be treated as a joke but with of great concern.
Okerosi Ondieki , chair ODM Kisii Branch , said that the government should stop drama and side shows.
While holding peaceful demonstrations conducted by residents in South Mugirango condemned the raid and attempt to arrest of CS Matiang’i.
The residents said as a community they are will continue supporting the former CS and provide him with security if the government is not ready to give him security.
The residents have asked the government to to take stern action and apologize to Omogusii community.
