The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) has confirmed KK Mutahi as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective December 1, 2025, marking a decisive step in the chamber’s drive to strengthen private sector empowerment and economic growth. Mutahi, who has served in an acting capacity for the past six months, brings more than two decades of corporate management experience across the energy and retail sectors, coupled with a proven record in organizational leadership, trade facilitation, and strategic partnerships.
His career trajectory includes senior management roles at Kenolkobil (now Rubis), where he rose to Country Retail Manager, and extensive service within KNCCI structures. Mutahi has previously served as Vice Chairman of the Meru County Chapter and as County Chapter Manager for Nairobi between 2014–2017 and 2019–2021. He also chaired the Chamber Presidential Delivery Unit & County Empowerment, coordinating flagship programs and monitoring development priorities across all 47 county chambers.
In his new role, Mutahi is expected to spearhead process re-engineering within the chamber and sharpen its advocacy initiatives, ensuring KNCCI remains a powerful voice for business in Kenya and beyond. Chamber President Dr. Erick Rutto welcomed the appointment, describing Mutahi as the ideal leader to guide the organization into its next chapter of innovation and growth. “KK Mutahi’s extensive leadership experience and strategic vision make him the right person to drive our mission forward. We are confident that under his leadership, the chamber will continue to thrive and deliver exceptional value to our members,” Dr. Rutto said.
Mutahi, in his acceptance remarks, emphasized continuity and transformation. “The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry has built a strong foundation of advocacy, partnerships, and public-private collaboration. I am honored to lead this premier institution with its talented team. Together, we will re-engineer internal processes and unlock new opportunities in local, regional, and international spaces,” he said.
His confirmation comes at a critical moment for Kenya’s private sector, which is navigating global economic headwinds while seeking stronger representation in trade and investment. KNCCI’s decision signals confidence in Mutahi’s ability to consolidate gains, expand partnerships, and position the chamber as a central player in shaping Kenya’s economic future.
With KK Mutahi at the helm, KNCCI is not just appointing a CEO—it is charting a new course. The chamber’s next phase of growth will be defined by sharper advocacy, deeper partnerships, and a renewed commitment to empowering businesses across Kenya.
