Mwea Member of Parliament Mary Maingi has reiterated her unwavering support towards the eradication of the illicit alcohol. Mwea, which is in Kirinyaga County has not been spared by the voracious menace.
Earlier on Friday, Mary Maingi joined the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Prof. Kindiki Kithure in a consultative meeting with the new Mwea security team, following the illicit alcohol incident which led to the loss of many lives.
The government, through the Cabinet Secretary, has issued a commitment to conduct a thorough and impartial inquiry into the involvement of officers in the incident. A program to assist those chronically addicted to alcohol so that they are rehabilitated and reformed is also set to take off soon, and a crackdown to ensure all those running bars are adequately licensed and abiding to the required standards.
Through collaborative efforts, we will prevail in the war against illicit alcohol.
