Mbeere North Member of Parliament Geoffrey Ruku is a legislator who takes education matters very seriously.
He says,
“Today we have held a successful Education Day for Kirie Zone (Muminji Ward) to deliberate on how to salvage the declining performance in our schools. The meeting involved all Education stakeholders including the Ministry of Education (Sub-County), TSC, Headteachers, Principals, BOMs and Parents from Kirie Zone.
We have made the following resolutions:
- That headteachers and principals will perform their administrative and management roles without fail and deliver quality performance and learning environment.
- That teachers will commit themselves to providing quality teaching and instruction and ensure that all schools improve in all subjects and students proceed to secondary schools with good grades.
- That Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs) will support teachers and schools and supervise standardized implementation of the curriculum in all schools.
- That the Sub-County Ministry of Education officials led by the Director will provide resourceful support to schools, including infrastructural development and learning materials while supervising all stakeholders to perform their roles to improve performance.
- That the political leadership led by myself will provide good political will and mobilize resources to support schools to have better infrastructure to facilitate a quality learning environment for our learners.
- That parents will support schools through paying the necessary bills required to run schools effectively. Parents will also support their children by ensuring good hygiene, quality diet, school uniform and peaceful homes.
- That chiefs and assistant chiefs will follow up on children that are not going to school and facilitate their return to school.
- That everyone has a responsibility to ensure we have significant improvement in performance of all schools in Mbeere North.
- That every school’s Board of Management (BOM) will facilitate the learning institution to deliver high performance failure to which the BOM will be disbanded and replaced with a more qualified board.
We The North are Building a Better Society Together.”
