Othaya MP Wambugu Wainaina addressing Karima ward residents who attended a free medical camp at Witima Trading centre

Over 1,000 patients from Karima ward in Othaya constituency yesterday benefited from a free medical camp organised by Mwai Kibaki Hospital in partnership with area Member of Parliament Wambugu Wainaina alias MountKenya.
The medical camp was held at Unjiru Community Hall in Witima Trading Centre.
The MP who lauded the hospital fraternity for the camp said after other free medical camps were held in Mahiga and Chinga, another one will be held in Iria-ini ward soon.
This will benefit the local residents especially on matters of screening the non communicable diseases which include the diabetes, hypertension, Cancer among others.
He also urged residents to ensure regular screening for various diseases to ensure they are medically fit.
“I’m also organizing with a team of local medical personnel on how they can be having regular visits on matters of screening and care to those people affected so that they can be up to date with their health ” he added.
The MP also thanked the medical personnel from Mwai Kibaki Hospital, the local KMTC fraternity and Othaya Level IV Hospital for the support in preparations and participation of the camps.
The medical camp which was held to mark this year’s annual Nurses Week saw a group of nurses from the Mwai Kibaki hospital cut a cake with the MP to commemorate the occasion.
The beneficiaries thanked the institution and the MP for the medical camps saying it was Godsend during these hard economic times.
Scores of beneficiaries who attended the free camp thanked the MP for his exemplary performance as their lawmaker.
“I would like to thank the MP for this good gesture that have seen hundreds of local residents benefit. May God bless him,” Grace Wambui from Gatugi village said.
