Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development Mutahi Kagwe yesterday hosted the Kenya Veterinary Association led by National Chairperson Dr. Kelvin Osore in a meeting aimed at strengthening collaboration. The CS Kagwe welcomed KVA’s proposals and emphasized the need for a more structured partnership. “We must align incentives and training. He committed to improving veterinary intern welfare through better documentation, regular payslips, a modest stipend increase, and exploring harmonized allowances. The CS also called for tighter oversight of payroll systems and expanded training programs for meat sector workers. The meeting concluded with an agreement to form a joint working group to address systemic challenges and elevate the livestock sector as a key economic driver.
