Gathungururu Girls Secondary School in Mukurwe-ini Constituency on Friday received rare visitors who held a motivation talk with Form Four students who are set to sit for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in a few days time. The visitors were led by the institution’s Board of Management chairman Mr M M Kibicho. The team also handed over Sucess Cards to the candidates. The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has kicked off a vital training program for enumerators and supervisors in Kericho County, focusing on identifying vulnerable households through the Enhanced Single Registry (ESR) System. The initiative aims to gather crucial data that will support transformative social protection services for those in need. The National Social Protection Secretariat (NSPS) emphasises that the ESR will enhance food security, health access, education, and social justice while addressing the exclusion of vulnerable groups.
A mid-term review conducted in 13 counties, including West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Turkana, and Kajiado, has revealed that over 11,000 classrooms for Junior Secondary Schools will be completed much earlier than expected. The Ministry of Education officials have stated that most schools identified in phase one of the project have made remarkable progress based on the plan and completion date. Basic Education Principal Secretary, Dr. Belio Kipsang, said a total of 16,000 classrooms will be constructed across the country, where 11000 will be put up by the Ministry of Education while five thousand classrooms will be constructed through the National Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).
Chief Justice Martha Koome presided over the swearing in of 31 Assistant Deputy Registrars at the Supreme Court in Nairobi. The CJ said the officers will work closely with Deputy Registrars in the seamless discharge of judicial and administrative duties.
“In your judicial functions, you will undertake critical roles such as the taxation of Bill of Costs, facilitating the enforcement of court decisions, certifying and executing orders, and providing pre-trial directions in serious cases, among many other essential tasks. Your responsibilities will also encompass overseeing consent judgments, handling admiralty functions, resolving disputes through mediation, and verifying appeal records,” the CJ said.
She added: “On the administrative side, your roles will extend to implementing court operational plans, ensuring the proper management of court registries, monitoring performance of the courts, and supporting other administrative processes. In effect, you are the linchpin between judicial and administrative functions, ensuring that the wheels of justice turn smoothly and efficiently.”
