John Musyimi, the Central Regional Sales Manager of Almasi Bottlers Ltd, presents a dummy cheque to Esther Wairimu Wambugu, the winner of KSh 1 million in Coca-Cola’s “KachingChing na Coke” promotion for the Nyeri Region, during a ceremony held in Karatina town. Esther, a resident of Mathira in Nyeri County, is the latest recipient of the KSh1 million prize, making her the 12th millionaire nationwide through the Coca-Cola promotion. She plans to invest the winnings in expanding her hardware business. The “KachingChing na Coke” promotion, designed to reward Coca-Cola consumers during these challenging economic times, offers cash prizes and other merchandise to customers on a weekly basis. Isiolo Governor, Ibrahim Guyo, addresses stakeholders of the Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project during a meeting to evaluate the progress and challenges facing the construction of the 720-kilometre road infrastructure project. “The Horn of Africa Gateway project is critical, not just for infrastructure development but also for enhancing connectivity through the installation of fibre optic cables, which will be invaluable during disasters or trade facilitation,” Guyo said.
Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo has urged youth to venture into agribusiness for self-employment.Dr. Ottichilo is encouraging the young people to go for the available opportunities in various value chains including poultry farming, horticulture and aquaculture for the generation of income. The governor, who spoke in the aftermath of the International Youth Day as he viewed products showcased by the youth, challenged them to embrace climate smart agriculture so as to be able to reap optimal returns. He noted that his administration has partnered with other organizations such as Tupande One-Acre-Fund to train the residents on the best agronomical practices.
The county head stated that structures are now in place to operationalize the Vihiga County Youth Act which would go a long way on addressing issues concerning youth. “We have recruited Youth Development Officers who among other tasks will develop a database of the youth which would aid in planning programmes aimed at promoting their socio-economic welfare,” he asserted.
Milimani Children’s court Magistrate convicted a man for committing an indecent act with a 14-year old child.
Senior Resident Magistrate Festus Terer ruled that upon analysis of the evidence submitted, and consideration of exhibits presented in court, the accused person Michael Otieno is guilty of the offence.
The offence occurred on diverse dates between the year 2021 and 2023 at Kangemi area within Nairobi City County. The court heard that the accused person used to prey on her at night and touch her private parts at night when the rest of the family members were asleep.
An Eldoret Court has sentenced a Kenya Forest Service Sergeant to pay a fine of Kshs 500,000 or serve 5 years in prison for uttering false documents and forgery. Senior Principal Magistrate Peter Areri sentenced Godfrey Maundu Nzilu on four counts of uttering false documents contrary to section 353 of the Penal Code, and one count of forgery contrary to section 349 of the Penal Code. The accused had presented a forged Diploma certificate from the Technical University of Kenya (TUK) to his employer, the Kenya Forest Service (KFS). He also submitted forged Bachelor’s and Diploma certificates in Criminology and Forensic Studies to Moi University for authentication, for courses he never attended at either institution. The prosecution, led by Mr. David Fedha and Ms. Patricia Kirui, successfully proved the case beyond any reasonable doubt by presenting a total of sixteen witnesses and thirty-three exhibits.
