High Court has declared Privatisation Act 2023 unconstitutional, halting the proposed sale of KICC, KPC, New KCC, Kenya Seed Company, Kenya Literature Bureau (KLB) and National Oil Corporation of Kenya, among other State firms. The Court ruled that the Privatisation Act did not undergo sufficient public consultation hence making it invalid. The court noted that KICC was specifically identified as a national monument and its proposed sale was deemed a violation of cultural and constitutional rights.
Nakuru County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Mr Leonard Bor stresses a point when he met officials of Cereal Growers Association (CGA) and Farm to Market Association (FTMA). According to Mr Bor Kenya needs an urgent and comprehensive shift to agroecology across the entire food system with particular emphasis on the integration of agroecology in the policies, strategies and action plans.
A funeral service for the Endarasha Hillside Academy fire victims that was scheduled for Wednesday this week will take place tomorrow and not today. Acting Central Regional Commissioner, Pius Murugu told journalists that the changes have been arrived at after consultation with the bereaved families who found it necessary to shift the dates due to logistical issues. Murugu has however said the time and other programs for the service remain unchanged.
“We have decided to move the date for the funeral service from Wednesday to Thursday due to some logistical issues which we have discussed and agreed upon with the parents of the deceased. Our Thursday program will nevertheless run as planned from 8.30 am to 11 am to allow families time to go and proceed with other funeral rites in their respective homes,” he has confirmed.
Nyeri County governor Mutahi Kahiga yesterday led mourners in a sending off ceremony Sheikh Uledi Majid. Until his death on Monday evening, Majid, 80 was serving as the SUPKEM Nyeri Branch chairman. He was also a former councillor and a respected Community leader who was actively involved in community projects. He was laid to rest at Muslim Cemetery, Kiawara, Nyeri Town after the final brief service at Majengo Mosque. The governor was accompanied by among others, his deputy David Kinaniri, Transport CECM Eng. Abdi Hanif, Health Chief Officer Ibrahim Edin and Trade Chief Officer George Mwangi.
