Project completion delays remains a critical challenge across both the private and public sectors, often resulting in cost overuns and intended impact to the beneficiaries. This was the message delivered by Irrigation Principal Secretary Ephantus Kimotho, during the launch of Eliminating Project Delays and Cost Overruns, a new book by project management expert Mr Nahashon Okowa. He pointed out tremendous success in unlocking project delays such as Mwea Irrigation Scheme, Bura Irrigation Projects, and Lower Nzoia Irrigation project which has unlocked huge impact to the economy.

A section of port users has defended the track record of Captain William Ruto, the Managing Director (MD) of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), since he took the helm in 2023 amid accusations of procurement improprieties.
They vehemently condemned what they described as orchestrated attacks and machinations to tarnish the reputation of the industrious MD in a bid to hound him out of office. The Port Users, led by Michael Magak, say the MD woes stem from retrogressive forces who are hell-bent on perpetuating the capture and manipulation of the KPA tendering process. They expressed their unwavering support and confidence in the entire KPA management, saying they have done a marvelous job of streamlining the port operations and ensuring efficient service delivery to all port users and the community through the Corporate Social Initiative (CSI). They described a recent newspaper headline as sensational and intended to discredit the MD who they encouraged him to continue executing his mandate professionally, dismantling entrenched tender cartels and ensuring that youth, women, and persons living with disabilities have fair access to tenders.

The County Government of Vihiga has officially established a Grievance Redress and Feedback Mechanism (GRM) toolkit, designed to offer residents structured and accessible channels for raising complaints and receiving timely responses. This initiative addresses a long-standing gap where citizens lacked formal means to air concerns related to service delivery and governance. With the GRM in place, Vihiga residents can now engage with their government more directly and transparently.
Developed by the Directorate of Public Participation and Civic Education in partnership with The Institute of Social Accountability (TISA), the framework involves the formation and training of County GRM Committees, starting at the county level and gradually extending to sub-county, ward, and village levels.
