The Kirinyaga County Health Facilities Improvement Fund Bill 2023 has been passed by the county Assembly, providing a framework for health facilities to access funding for their operations. The bill also aims to establish mechanisms for managing resources within their control and establishes a board to oversee the fund’s utilization. The bill is expected to transform the health sector, directing funds towards improving healthcare services and infrastructure. The bill was unanimously supported and is now in second reading.
Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani is enhancing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to combat youth unemployment in the coastal county. Since 2013, the number of TVETs has increased from 12 to 43 across 20 administrative wards.
