Nyeri’s Jubilee Party gubernatorial aspirant Eng. Wangai Ndirangu yesterday continued his grassroots outreach in the county, worshipping with congregations in Mukurweini Constituency and donating blankets to elderly residents as he intensified his campaign ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Eng. Wangai attended services at Wamutito Catholic Church and Faith Manifestation Church in Ichamara, Mukurweini Central Ward, where he joined worshippers in prayer and interacted with residents.
During the visits, he distributed blankets to elderly members of the community, saying the initiative was aimed at supporting vulnerable senior citizens during the current cold season.
Addressing the congregations, the gubernatorial hopeful said the elderly deserved dignity, care and recognition for the role they have played in building society.
“To every elder in Nyeri, you are seen, you are valued, and you will not be forgotten,” he said.
The Sunday engagements are part of Eng. Wangai’s ongoing countywide campaign that has seen him traverse different constituencies meeting residents, religious leaders, traders, farmers and youth groups as he seeks to popularise his bid for the county’s top seat on the Jubilee Party ticket.
His campaign has largely centred on listening to residents’ concerns and outlining his vision for improved service delivery, economic empowerment, agricultural transformation and better support for vulnerable groups.
Supporters who accompanied him said the church visits offered an opportunity for residents to interact with the aspirant and share issues affecting their communities.
The blankets donation was welcomed by beneficiaries, with local residents describing it as a timely gesture as temperatures continue to drop in parts of Nyeri County.
Eng. Wangai has maintained an active presence across the county in recent months, with his campaign focusing on community engagement and grassroots mobilisation as political activity gradually gathers momentum ahead of the next general election.
