The Communist Party Marxist Kenya (CPM-K) is hosting a convergence of global revolutionary forces, the 4th International Theoretical Conference (Theocon) in Nairobi, drawing 110 delegates from around the world.
Organized by t CPM-K in partnership with the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) and the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), the conference aims to forge a united front against what organizers describe as “bureaucratic and comprador capitalism in the neocolonies.”
“African Liberation Day stands as a powerful symbol of the historical and continuing resistance of the African peoples against imperialist plunder and subjugation. The people’ S heroic struggles for national liberation past and present, inspire the revolutionary movements across the globe. On this important occasion, we raise high the banner of solidarity with all peoples resisting imperialist domination in all forms,” said Booker Omole General Secretary CPM-K.
Omole further added that the world continues to suffer under a prolonged stagnation of the global capitalist system where imperialist powers scramble to redivide the world for markets, and exploit the natural resources of the neocolonies and the labor power of all working people.
“The United States of America remains the principal imperialist power and greatest enemy of the people even as inter-imperialist contradictions continue to drastically heighten. US imperialism remains the primary actor which imposes unequal treaties and lopsided economic agreements to extract superprofits from underdeveloped regions,” he added
The event brought together 57 international representatives from anti-imperialist movements and 53 Kenyan delegates representing a cross-section of workers, peasants, youth, and progressive thinkers. Theocon marks a strategic milestone both ideologically and logistically as it is the first time such a gathering takes place in Africa.
According to organizers, the two day conference will engage in intensive theoretical and strategic sessions focusing on class analysis and global resistance to capitalist exploitation and neocolonial structures. Participants will develop unified resolutions and action plans grounded in Marxist-Leninist analysis and inspired by historical national liberation movements.
In the Western Sahara region, the US is supporting Morocco’s claim in annexing and exploiting the rich minerals like phosphate in the lands of the Sahrawis who are valiantly fighting for their right to self-govern through the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and the Frente Polisario. In the Alliance of Sahel States whose members have began to turn away from US and French imperialism, the US is actively instigating regime changes to regain, control over the countries and their abundant natural resources. In Congo, interests of US imperialism and China in the country’s mineral resources have led to its destabilization leading to deaths of Congolese,” remarked Malou Fatima, NDFP National Office.
Theocon will directly precede African Liberation Day on May 25, strengthening ties between historical struggles on the continent and ongoing international efforts for socialist transformation. They said that choice of Nairobi, reflects an intentional move by organizers to challenge and deconstruct systems of global capital from within their own strongholds.
Observers note that the gathering comes amid rising discontent across the Global South, as economic inequality, militarisation, and ecological crisis exacerbate tensions in nations grappling with neocolonial pressures.
We reaffirm our commitment to proletarian internationalism and call on all oppressed peoples to intensify their national democratic struggles, build revolutionary mass organizations, and deepen unity and cooperation with other anti-imperialist forces. We support efforts for revolutionary and anti-imperialist movements to converge, deliberate on common issues, and forge alliances of practical and political solidarity. These are crucial steps in consolidating the strength of the people’s resistance against imperialism and for genuine liberation,” stated Kiritu Chege, General Secretary Revolutionary Youth League.
The conference will conclude just ahead of African Liberation Day, a day they stated that is a symbolic bridge between the historic and the contemporary, the continental and the global, with a message of “Long live international solidarity. Long live the struggle for socialism.”
