Any political party that has ever produced a president usually ceases to have power to get through the next phase of election. That’s why coalitions are now the new model to revive their power. This was been demonstrated during the first term and second terms of President Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta, and most definitely, it shall be to Ruto just in case a miracle happens for his second term.
Therefore, the Jubilee Party is no longer fertile to get through the next phase, especially when its most senior member is now a retired Presidential Office holder. President Uhuru as a person, still has a big say in the region but as a graduate in politics, he will definitely not use Jubilee. The party has been defiled and it continues to create a lot of confusion, and uncertainty for its future. The best the leadership of that party can do is to close it down. The New Democrats (TND) political party which is led by the business Guru Dr Thuo Mathenge has a great potential ahead.
It can be a mountain region party but from a national perspective, they should consider forming a coalition with the presidential candidate from other parties and regions like that of former Vice President(l Kalonzo Musyoka. If Dr Thuo works to get the most Members of County Assembly (MCAs) in the region vying through his party, he will be a kingpin as a Governor in the region. It’s all party politics.
