Rival Factions Of Gikuyu Elders’ Association Council From Kiambu Suspended And Interim Office Installed

Gikuyu elders association council from Kiambu county on the 12th October 2023 at Kikuyu sub county attended a delegates meeting, the Sub County was represented by bonafide members of the association to call off the standoff that been prevailing for the last 3years or so where there have been two centers of leadership in Kiama Kia ma Kiambu County, the divide actually widened after the previous general election since we all had our own political affiliations, some leaders used that to their advantage to benefit themselves at the cost of the Gikuyu Council Elders in Kiambu, so far we have had to centers of power in another word Muthigi which guides us as elders in our cultural rule. This has finally come to a stop under the leadership of Patron Hon. George Nyanja who we as Kiama Kia ma members from Kiambu nominated for kiambu county patronage and was coronated by all sub counties.
The two camps which were under the leadership of Chairman Nditu wa Gitau (OJ) while the other camp has been under Chairman Munyua Nganga (Shamtel) were halted from carrying out any official matter kiama Kia ma until when we are done with this year’s boys circumcision which will commence in November after the class 8 National Exams.
The mantle was left to an Interim Office led by Githunguri sub county chair Gathura wa Muringa, Ruiru Sub County chair as the interim Vice chair, Limuru sub county chair Muhia Maina as the interim Secretary General, Gatundu North Sub county Chair Kibe Ngigi as the interim Treasurer, Thika sub county chair as the Interim Organising Sec. Kiambu Patron Hon. Nyanja and the sub county patrons will be incharge of organising the joint kiambu county elections after this year’s circumcision. All members present agreed that only the interim or caretaker office appointed yesterday will conduct Kiambu Kiama Kia ma activities at the county level.
