“Give a statement on the scholarships on education programmes between counties in Kenya and academic institutions in foreign countries,” Nandi Senator.
Senator Samson Cherargei has sought for a statement on scholarship touching on education programmes between Counties in Kenya and academic institutions in foreign countries.
In a request directed to the Senate Standing Committee on Education, Sen. Cherarkey wants the committee to acquaint the Senate on the exact number of scholarships on education programmes currently in place, guaranteed by the County Governments and managed by academic institutions outside the country, disclosing the terms and conditions of such scholarships.
The Nandi County Senator wants the committee to find out whether the Ministry of Education has a policy framework guiding counties that are in engagement with education institutions in foreign countries.
“The committee should state measures the Ministry is instituting in facilitating students currently facing termination of their academic programmes and repatriation from Finland due to non-payment of fees occasioned by withdrawal of their fees held in trust accounts,” requested Sen. Cherargei.
“The committee should outline measures the Ministry has put in place, if any, to streamline the terms and conditions of the scholarships,” he added.
